Thus, we bought 2 pumpkins at the grocery store--for less than the cost of the petting zoo--and had a blast carving one earlier this week with Maggie. Stay tuned for the second one. We're saving it for tomorrow.

Pumpkin Patch
I'll be honest with you. Halloween is not my favorite holiday....by a longshot. I remember enjoying dressing up as a kid somewhat, but only at the coaxing of my friends and I usually stayed within a HUGE comfort zone (meaning, I was never anything scary, bloody or unusual). I went with safe options and never spent a lot of money b/c honestly I didn't think it was worth it. I say all of this to explain why I am a dud parent at the pumpkin patch. Let me preface this first by saying it was like 95 degrees outside the day we went (so much for cute fall outfits) and after 15 minutes of standing in the blazing sun and smelling the lovely aromas from the petting zoo we were all a little irritable. We go to the pumpkin patch every year, but not to buy $12 pumpkins the size of my pinky finger, do the 5 bounce houses, the $4 petting zoo with an additional fee of $3 for pet food, or partake in the $5 bags of popcorn. We do it for the cute photos. That's it. As a parent I kind of feel obligated. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy these moments and love carving the pumpkins with my kids and watching their faces light up. I just don't enjoy getting scammed by the people running the pumpkin patch.

Were you having a bad day Jenny? You really laid it on the line...not that I don't totally agree with you but wow it seemed so much more vicious coming from you. :)
