The family that camps together....

...stays together. At least, that would be Kody and Kacy's motto. So, for Kacy's 25th birthday we loaded up the trucks with some camping supplies and headed out to the desert for an overnight with just the 4 of us. It was nice to get away for a night and because the weather has been so unseasonably WARM it wasn't miserably cold. And luckily we left just as the winds picked up and made it home before the freeway was shut down due to our insane wildfires out here.

Our view at sunset (my poor photography doesn't do it justice--this was the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen).

This rock formation was our natural shade during the day and shield from the wind at night--it was awesome. Kody and Kacy thought so too, so they climbed all the way to the top of it.

Truly magnificent, don't you think? It's cool that this little pocket of our world is really just a short drive away. I know it doesn't compare to Yosemite or the Grand Canyon, but it was a lovely little hole in the wall. I enjoyed getting away for the night, but Kody and I both agreed that we're bringing Maggie next time for sure--she would love it out there!

That looked like so much fun. And so beautiful too. What a nice little get away for a night.
